The Rebirth of Detroit: Baltimore Edition (Video)
Baltimore Hip Hop heads came out to celebrate the music of late Detroit producer J Dilla and the first release on his mother’s record label, Ruff Draft. “ The REBIRTH of DETROIT” listening party was sponsored by Missy Promotions and capture the core of B-more’s Hip Hop culture.
Hosted by Yo Slick aka Ooh Brownfish the night featured performances by Sean Toure, Eze Jackson, Awthentik Music, Wendel Patrick, The Fif, and B-FLY. J Dilla younger brother Illa J was the main featured. His set was laced with covers of Dilla classics as well as his own music. DJ Booman, DJ Minus Nine and DJ Exel spun classic Dilla Tunes throughout the night.
Jay Dee A.K.A. J Dilla passed away in 2006 due to Lupus. Before his un timely passing , Dilla produced hit records for many artists. The Rebirth of Detroit, is a full-length album from Dilla and it will drop on Yancey Music Group/Ruff Draft Records; headed by none other than Dilla’s own mother, Maureen Yancey A.K.A Ma Dukes.
